Sundry Agro on RadioNow: Tech, Trust & Tenacity In Grocery Delivery in Nigeria

Sundry Agro on RadioNow shares how the brand is using technology, trust, and tenacity to transform grocery delivery in Nigeria.

The Co-Founder and CEO of Sundry Agro, Eyitayo Onigbinde, recently took the hot seat on “Brands Now” with George Natural, airing on Radio Now 95.3 FM, to share the story, struggles, and systems behind one of Nigeria’s fastest-growing agri-commerce startups.

From humble beginnings in Lagos traffic to building a tech-powered platform connecting local farmers with city dwellers, the interview offered listeners an unfiltered look into what makes Sundry Agro more than a grocery platform, it’s a people-first movement.

Sundry Agro on RadioNow – Pandemic to Platform: Where It All Started

It all began with a question during COVID-19:

“What if grocery shopping could be clean, fast — even joyful?”

People wanted safety. They wanted convenience. They wanted food — but not the stress of markets. That’s when Eyitayo and his co-founder, Christianah, decided to build a marketplace that simulates a physical market online, complete with product categories, personal shoppers, and a same-day delivery promise.

Today, the platform is redefining the grocery experience for busy Lagosians, young families, and professionals.

The Uber Model — For Okro, Ponmo & Palm Oil

Sundry Agro on RadioNow gives us insight into the operations of the business. Instead of building a traditional logistics business, Sundry Agro operates on a hyperlocal Uber-like model:
When you order, the system assigns a trained personal shopper within 2–3km of your location — usually a woman between 18–25, trained in negotiation, hygiene, and customer care.

They go to the market, pick the items, prep them (wash, blend, chop), and deliver to your doorstep within 3 to 6 hours.

“It’s about peace of mind. Our customers want two things: convenience and trust,” Eyitayo said.

Every shopper on the platform goes through onboarding, food safety training, and communication grooming. As Eyitayo puts it:

“They’re not just shoppers — they’re brand ambassadors.”

And if things ever go sideways? The team steps in. Eyitayo even shared a story where a ₦100,000 order was nearly canceled — but he personally went to the market and fulfilled the order himself.

“We’re not perfect. But we are committed.”

Advice for Young Entrepreneurs

As the interview wrapped up, Eyitayo of Sundry Agro on RadioNow shared heartfelt advice for Nigeria’s next generation of entrepreneurs:

“Don’t wait for money to start. What you need most is a clear vision and a solid plan.”

He shared how a stranger once saw his printed business plan in his car, read it, and offered to help build Sundry Agro’s digital infrastructure — proof that ideas attract support when you carry them with conviction.

He encouraged young people to explore accelerator hubs, apply to incubation programs, and stay bold in a world now more open to startups than ever before.
